Drumstick Farming in Different Regions of India 🌍

Drumstick farming is practiced on a large scale in specific states of India with suitable climatic conditions. The production varies from around 40 to 125 quintals per acre, depending on the state and environmental suitability for drumstick cultivation.

Harvesting and Maintaining Drumstick Plants 🌿

Harvesting drumstick plants involves regular pruning to stimulate the growth of new branches and increase overall yield. Pruning also helps prevent diseases and ensures the healthy development of drumstick plants, contributing to sustained productivity over the years.

Ideal Planting Season and Cultivation Timeline 🌱

Drumstick plants should be cultivated during the months of May and June, with nursery preparation in May and June, and plantation between July and mid-August. After four to five months of plantation, the plants start flowering, and harvesting begins seven to eight months later. A single drumstick plant can yield produce for 10 to 12 years, making it a long-term investment.

Marketing and Selling Drumstick Produce 📈

When it comes to selling drumstick produce, the market price varies based on the time of harvesting. During February and March, the wholesale price ranges from ₹ 10 to ₹ 30 per kilogram, while during September and October, it ranges from ₹ 5to 20 ₹ per kilogram. With an average market price of ₹ per kilogram, the income from drumstick farming can reach ₹ in the first year and around ₹ in the second year per acre. However, farmers in smaller towns may find it challenging to access a large market, and selling up to 100 quintals in the market can be difficult.
